Research is neither a first step nor a last step but it is always a next step. Envisioned as a modern as well as research and innovation – intensive University, RUAS is engaged in interacting with Industry, Business, Communities and Government organizations. The University is seriously committed for generation of useful knowledge through applied research.

The main activities of Research Division include coordinating with Research Programs, Centre of Excellence, Research Centers, Sponsored Research, Publications and Patents. Research Programs include Doctoral and M.Phil Programs which has a huge demand for its unique credit program structure. Recently, RUAS has set up two Center of Excellence (CoE) in ​‘AI, ML and Autonomy’ and ​‘Computational Mechanics’. In particular, CoE in AI, ML and Autonomy is led by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of RUAS, Professor S.S. Sritharan. The CoE in Computational Mechanics is mentored by Professor J.N. Reddy from Texas A&M University, USA. Moreover, Faculty members across Ramaiah Group of Institutions are also part of these CoEs for the benefit of the Society. The University has established 21 Research Centers to carry out contemporary research in inter-disciplinary domains comprising of Dental, Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences, Engineering & Basic Sciences, Design & Management. The University has actively worked with National and International Funding Organizations in Government, Public and Private sectors to generate knowledge through Sponsored Research. So far the University faculties have undertaken more than 120 funded research projects. Funding agencies like ISRO, DRDO, DST, DBT, ICMR, Wellcome Trust, SERB, AERB etc. have provided research grants in the past. RUAS is encouraging Faculty Members for publications in SCOPUS, WOS, PUBMED indexed journals to create an impact in the research community. The University is also aggressive in securing IPR from the created knowledge and filed 150 Patents till 2019. In addition, the University is awarded 17 Patents and out of which 13 are International Patents from USA, UK, China etc.
