Business Models

Overview

A business model describes the rationale of how an organisation creates, delivers, and captures value, in economic, social, cultural or other contexts. The process of the construction and modification of a business model is also called business model innovation, and forms a part of business strategy.

A good business model uses its resources to improve its market position, adding new products, features and customers or expanding into new applications. However, sometimes, it may be difficult to maintain a market position. A red flag that can indicate this is when only two or three major customers buy most of your product.

A business model can be simple like a diagram, physical model, or picture, or complex like a set of calculus equations, or computer programmes. The main types of scientific models are visual, mathematical, and computer models. Examples of visual models include flowcharts, pictures, and diagrams that help us educate each other
