Overview
The Power Train group focuses on Green Mobility through ICE-based power trains as well as EV-based power trains. ICE-based power trains focus on cross-cutting technology domains like ‘Fuels and Energy Carriers’ and ‘Thermal and Energy Management’. The collaborative research for such power trains concentrate on affordable design changes which increase efficiency and reduce emissions in engines for light and heavy-duty vehicles. This includes downsizing, advanced flexible combustion processes and alternative fuels supported by advanced after-treatment and efficient thermal management.
We also focus on Green Mobility through EV-based power trains, which prioritise lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion batteries, fuel-cell systems, hydrogen storage, improved electric drives, charging systems and concept demonstration, as well as electrification for heavy-duty vehicles.
Our final target is to meet customer needs, specifications and regulatory demands for lower fuel consumption and emissions whilst maintaining utility, performance and affordability of passenger and commercial vehicles.
